World’s 100 Largest Yachts 2006 #60: Golden Shadow
#60: GOLDEN SHADOW—219'0"
This blue-hulled boat is the second member of the Golden Fleet on our list (see no. 26, Golden Odyssey). She’s arguably one of the first “shadow boats” for megayachts, meaning a vessel that accompanies a megayacht for the primary purpose of transporting people or equipment (or both). In her case, she houses scientists and other researchers active in studying the oceans of the world. She also totes a variety of watercraft used to assist the scientists as well as Golden Eye, a Cessna airplane.
