Eye Catching

Today I drove to Newport to see a yacht for an October issue story. (I don't want to think about October yet! I've barely begun to enjoy the summer.)

Anyways ... It made me realize that I may have a bit of a problem. A small obsession. And the first step is admitting you have a problem, so here it goes: I love brightly colored yachts. In putting together The PMY 100 this year there were a dozen with bold beautiful hulls. Black and teal and green and gray.

It was the 50-meter Silver Shalis that caught my eye today. That blue hull stood out among the many white ones though I must admit I would have expected her to be a gray or metallic silver.

What do you think? Are brightly painted yachts a smart way to stand out? or do they stand out like a sore thumb?
