71. CHANTAL MA VIE

just forward of the swim platform. B: John Nylen, USA; N: Builder/Jim
Krogen; H: Steel; E: 2/700-hp Caterpillars

73. MONTIGNE
| L: 152'0" Y: 1986

select legs available to charterers. She'll be spending time in
Thailand and New Zealand this winter before heading off to the western
shores of the States next summer. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland;
N: H.W. De Voogt Naval Architects; H: Steel; E: 2/900-hp Caterpillars
74. FRANCINE
| L: 151'3" Y: 1989/1999
Mahogany
accentuates the main-deck lounge's club-like feel; it's really
more of a smoking lounge where the owners enjoy after-dinner drinks and
cigars. The traditional saloon is up on the bridge deck, where a collection
of Biot glass is on display. B: Benetti, Italy/International Marine Service,
France; N: Builder/Tom Fexas Yacht Design; H: Aluminum; E: unknown
75. AFFINITY
| L: 151'0" Y: 1999
A Long Island
couple who's well-known on the yacht-racing circuit took Affinity
on one heckuva maiden voyage--to New Zealand, to observe the last
America's Cup race. The yacht totes a custom 27-foot Pursuit and
more impressive, the two-person Jacuzzi tub in the master stateroom has
a rope pattern fashioned of more than 700 pieces of water-cut jade. B:
Delta Marine, USA; N: Delta Design Group; H: Fiberglass; E: 2/1,000-hp
Caterpillars
76. DETROIT EAGLE
| L: 151'0" Y: 2001
The cars weren't
the only things attracting attention in Daytona Beach last February--Detroit
Eagle caused a stir, too, being the largest yacht in the marina. With
three engines that develop nearly 13,000 hp, one of which is a gas turbine,
she has more muscle than a dozen NASCAR racecars. The prize possession
of Roger Penske, the yacht also has an impressive display of racing helmets.
B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland; N: De Voogt Naval Architects;
H: Aluminum; E: 2/3,650-hp MTU-DDCs and 1/5,600-hp TF50 gas turbine
77. SALLY ANN
| L: 151'0" Y: 1996
Vacationers in
Newport, Rhode Island, got a good look at this Delta-built yacht this
summer. One thing they didn't get a look at, though, is the tropical
mural in the master head, which replicates one found aboard Fortunate
Sun (see no. 82). The yacht is currently for sale and was one of the
first to visit Rozelle Bay in Sydney, Australia, an emerging superyacht
destination. B: Delta Marine, USA; N: Delta Design Group; H: Fiberglass;
E: 2/855-hp Caterpillars
78. SEA JEWEL
| L: 151'0" Y: 1987
Not only
does this yacht have a formal saloon for lounging, but she also has a
private lounge in the master suite and a separate one for guests, just
outside their staterooms. She departed Porto Cervo in Sardinia in September
in preparation for her winter charter season in the Caribbean, where she's
available for $135,000 per week. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland;
N: H.W. de Voogt Naval Architects; H: Steel; E: 2/1,050-hp Caterpillars
79. TURMOIL |
L: 151'0" Y: 1996
A clothing retailer
who sold his business to Sears earlier this year has kept Turmoil
on the go since delivery day. It's no wonder, since years before
he signed the contract he'd completed a circumnavigation onboard
a sailboat Palmer Johnson built for him. This yacht has reportedly been
to Siberia twice. B: Palmer Johnson, USA; N: Dick Boon/Vripack Yachting;
H: Aluminum; E: 2/820-hp Caterpillars
80. THE HIGHLANDER
| L: 151'0" Y: 1986
The hardest-working
yacht in New York Harbor, The Highlander, owned by the Forbes heirs,
hosts myriad "schmooze cruises" for clients of the family's
eponymous magazine. The green-hulled yacht totes a color-coordinated helicopter,
BMW motorcycles, and tenders. B: Feadship/De Vries Scheepsbouw, Holland;
N: Jon Bannenberg/de Voogt Naval Architects; H: Steel; E: 2/1,060-hp Detroit
