From Seattle to Tahiti this year, dozens of people were convinced that actor Tom Cruise owned this yacht. Why? Because he named his daughter Suri. The truth is, SuRi (as the yacht’s name is properly displayed) is owned by the same gentleman who has been cruising aboard JeMaSa (see no. 71) for a few years. SuRi is a shadow boat, featuring a handful of staterooms, a massage room, steam room, skylounge, sunning area, Jacuzzi, and other creature comforts. Originally built as an offshore supply vessel, she later served as a crab boat known as the Fierce Contender, featured in the popular Discovery Channel program Deadliest Catch. The conversion took place last year in Seattle. And in case you’re wondering why there’s a mix of upper- and lower-case letters in her name as well as that of JeMaSa, it’s because the boats are named in honor of various members of the owner’s family.
