Update on Trinity Yacht Ulysses

Some of you may remember the Trinity explorer yacht Ulysses that burned a few weeks before hand over at Trinity's New Orleans yard back in 2001 (I think I have that year right)

She was a 192 foot explorer built for New Zealand billionaire Graeme Hart. The fire burned for 9 hours and seriously damaged the interior.

Finally after all this time there is some news. She was shipped to Asia and her damaged interior and superstructure stripped. From there she went to Brisbane, Australia where a new super structure was fabricated and a complete new interior made. Only her engine room and mechanicals really escaped the fire and smoke damage.

She is finally now reported to be completely rebuilt. I guess the replacement super structure was the main reason for the time involved. A number of Brisbane based companies were involved. To all intents she is now a new-build, such was the level of work undertaken.

She has not yet arrived at her home berth in Auckland's Viaduct Harbour but I will update as soon as she does. Her berth has been empty for about 18 months now since Hart's interim yacht (a 150 footer also called Ulysses at the time) departed. Since then a 30 foot RIB called Brutus has occupied the berth.
