I'm sorry to inform you all that one of the marine industry's best naval architects, Tom Fexas, died yesterday. Longtime readers of PMY may remember he wrote the "Spectator" column for us for nearly 20 years and was never shy about sharing his opinions on what was right--and wrong--with the state of boating. What you may not know is that he was a great mentor to people like JC Espinosa and other designers, and he had a great working relationship with the folks at Mikelson. In addition, Hargrave just resurrected his famous Midnight Lace design. He also never failed to give a great interview; I always came away from our talks with so much more information than I could ever squeeze into my stories. He'll be missed.
Capt. Bill Pike recently returned from an extensive test of the Bertram 35. The first boat built under new ownership, this build has a lot riding on it. Get Bill’s first take here with a teaser of things to come on image 15.
