"cancelled orders"

Dear fellow yacht enthsuiasts,

I have been reading this superb forum for som time now, but I conversation I had last night prompted me to make my first post. I was chatting with a friend last night and he mentioned that a certain motoryacht (sorry can't remember the name, blame the beers) had been bought by the owner as a "cancelled order". Does this actually happen, do people wealthy enough to design, order and even start building a megayacht get into such trouble/lose enthusiasm/change their minds and simply cancel the project leaving the yards to pick up the pieces.

Assuming this is the case are there many "cancelled orders" sitting around that people know of? how long do they stay unfinished? do the yards finish them off in the hope of selling them on (must be risky with the huge variation of interior styles etc.) Can someone with better knowledge / access to some of the better yards post any pics/info of recent cancelled orders?

Thanks in advance for your replies,

L 39.

p.s. looking out of my window this morning I can see Enigma (ex Eco), Limitless, Lady moura, Vava, Sanora, Opal C, Aquila, and quite a few more, great way to start the day!
