Our reader selection for July 2013 is Atlantic Yacht Basin, in Chesapeake, Virginia.
Power & Motoryacht readers Mike and Barbara Harbin write:
“We have been using Atlantic Yacht Basin (AYB), in Chesapeake, Virginia, for more than 15 years, with both sail- and powerboats. While we are usually the smallest boat in the yard, with our current 34-foot American Tug or our previous 46-foot Liberty sailboat, we always are treated with the same attention to detail that such yachts as Chanticleer, a 108-foot Burger, or a former presidential yacht like Sequoia are given. The yard is family owned since 1937 in the same location in Chesapeake, Virginia, just south of the Great Bridge locks in fresh water. The crew of about 20 craftsmen and an on-site parts store can and will do any job that needs to be done—engine, paint (two paint sheds), carpentry, electrical, fabricating, or electronics. Some of the crew have been with AYB for over 30 years and all have a passion for boats and yachts of any size. I was not able to figure out how to rewind my wife’s fishing rod and one of the crew came by after work to show me how it’s done! Please consider this crew of dedicated professionals and craftsmen to receive your clambake as recognition of their outstanding dedication to the yachting industry.”
