For the midsize boat owner who prefers gasoline-powered gensets, Onan has expanded its Electronic Quiet (e-QG) series with two launches. The units, an 8 kW and 10 kW, both feature a remote diagnostic panel that allows you to monitor a number of operating parameters such as oil pressure and operating temperature. Moreover, both gensets self-protect with shutdown indicator lights in the event of high coolant temperature, high exhaust temperature, overspeed, over voltage, no raw-water flow, and more. One difference between the units is that the 8-kW genset runs 60 Hz only, while the 10-kW genset can run 8 kW at 50 Hz or 10 kW at 60 Hz. Both, however, offer an optional three-amp battery charging regulator and a five-year limited warranty. Onan Phone: (800) 888-6626. www.onanmarine.com.
