Known for providing power on everything from trawlers to tugs, Lugger has one new engine to report for 2004, the L1276A, which is the first in a line of electronically controlled models. The six-cylinder engine comes in three ratings and has impressive fuel consumption. At the continuous-duty rating of 340 hp at 1800 rpm, the engine burns 14.9 gph; at the medium-duty rating of 375 hp at 1900 rpm, 17.3 gph; and at the high-output rating of 400 hp at 2100 rpm, just 21.2 gph. It also has an impressive power-to-weight ratio and a generous displacement of 12.5 liters.
