The
news from Nissan/Tohatsu, which offer the same marine motors but just
under different brands, is that a pair of direct-injection 40-hp two-strokes
is joining their lineup of TLDI (Two stroke, Low pressure, Direct Injection)
90-, 70-, and 50-hp models. According to Nissan/Tohatsu the TLDI system
breaks up the fuel into microscopic droplets and positions the resulting
plume in the right location inside the combustion chamber. The result
is said to be an optimized burn and reduced emissions. All three-cylinder
engines weigh 210 pounds and have power trim and an 18.5-amp alternator.
