Bombardier has also applied new engineering and technology to the Johnson line, which does not use FICHT. The top-rated engine here is the 175-hp V-6. By splitting the seam between the gearcase and exhaust housing to eliminate abrasion and using many stainless steel parts, Bombardier significantly improves corrosion resistance. Johnson’s exclusive PowerPath induction offers quick acceleration, and the Super S.L.O.W. warning system along with SystemCheck gives both audio and visual warnings to prevent engine damage. The 175 features two triple-throat carburetors and a 35-amp alternator. (847) 689-7090. www.johnson.com. Next page > 2002 Engine Preview: Mercury/Mariner > | ||||||||||||||||||
