The name on the
cowling is legendary, and so was the debacle that almost brought it to
ruin. Fortunately Bombardier has come to the rescue, and new Evinrude
outboards are now leaving a 408,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in
Wisconsin. Among them is the 250-hp V-6 with FICHT ram injection. According
to the company, the refined FICHT direct fuel-injection system delivers
fast throttle response, cooler piston temperatures, and smoother running
throughout the entire rpm range. Along with these come superior fuel economy
and low emissions. Features include a freshwater flush port that works
without running the engine, SystemCheck warning system with visual and
audio alarms, targeted oil injection for complete engine lubrication,
and a 35-amp alternator with voltage regulator and battery isolation.
