Just in case muscle’s on your menu, Evinrude has brought out a monster 250-hp Evinrude 250 with Ficht Ram Injection and a stamp of approval that’s as green as Ralph Nader. The engine satisfies EPA 2006 standards as well as CARB standards through 2007. Based on a V-6 block, with a whopping 200-cubic-inch (3.3-liter) displacement, it reportedly delivers strong low-end torque and plenty of top-end punch. Ficht Ram Injection, of course, uses electromagnetic solenoid-driven fuel-injector pumps, controlled by a microprocessor-based engine controller, to precisely monitor fuel burn and exhaust port openings. This cuts hydrocarbon emissions and boosts fuel efficiency. With quality-control issues cropping up since the introduction of Ficht, OMC vows improvement. Perhaps the new 250 is a step in that direction. Contact
