The Raymarine Dragonfly is a combination sonar and GPS chartplotter that provides the power of CHIRP sonar with photo-like DownVision underwater imagery in a low-priced package. A bright 5.7-inch display is optically bonded to provide contrast and color.
Dual-channel CHIRP sonar shoots high-resolution structure images in DownVision mode, using a 60- by 1.4-degree fan beam. Meanwhile a conical, 25-degree beam of CHIRP signals describe targets throughout the water column. Both systems are effective to depths of 600 feet.
Dragonfly’s chartplotter uses Navionics Silver or Gold small chart downloads in conjunction with an internal 50-channel GPS sensor for quick satellite acquisition.
The bracket mounting system allows the unit to tilt and swivel in its quick-release base with an available Thule lock core ($39.99) for added security.
A transom-mount, dual-element CHIRP DownVision transducer (not shown) is included with the Dragonfly.
