It may look conventional, even classic, but this new wall chronometer receives longwave radio signals from a special station, WWVB, on which the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology transmits time signals to atomic accuracy (that is, referenced to nine billion vibrations per second). The result is that you just set your time zone, and this clock will take care of the rest, even Daylight Savings Time adjustments and leap seconds. It’s said to work most everywhere in North America and well offshore. The Porthole model shown has a six-inch dial and costs $200.
