Alternating summers days between the lake and the ocean, Melissa Kress grew up around the water. Sailboats, rowboats, powerboats, and canoes were all part of her family's stable of watercraft. And even though the water is in her blood—one grandfather served on PTs in the South Pacific, the other the Merchant Marines followed by a career on tugboats on the North Atlantic run—this is her first foray into the marine industry.

She joins Power & Motoryacht as senior editor after seven years as a real estate editor for both print and online publications. A graduate of West Virginia University, she began her journalism career as a community beat reporter in New Jersey.
