SAUNAS

There was a time when Jacuzzi tubs were considered the ultimate in onboard features, and while you’d be hard-pressed to find a yacht without one these days, some owners apparently don’t think the warm bubbles are enough to address their overall well-being. In this era of personal pampering, saunas and steam rooms are the way to go. The owners of yachts like the 203-foot Rasselas indulge in the therapeutic heat, and mega-size megayachts like the 279-foot sisterships Annaliesse and Alysia have not only large saunas but entire deck levels devoted to personal well being, even with separate steam rooms for men and women.

But you need not commission something in that size range to put the “ah” in spa. The 115-foot Thomas Spirit, which was built in 1988, was refitted three years ago to feature a sauna made of redwood. And the recently delivered, 177-foot Ability features a sauna (shown on page xx), a Turkish bath, and a gym all on the same deck, without detracting from other guest and owner areas.
