ISLAND • The North Kingstown Municipal Golf Course Phone: (401) 294-4051 is a 6,161-yard, par-70 offering that has tight fairways and nice par fives. Bring your straight game here rather than a long one. And watch it on windy days. Greens fees are $28 on weekdays and $35 on weekends. Carts are $24. • Locals suggest starting on the back nine of the Montaup Country Club Phone: (401) 683-0955. This 6,429-yard, par-71 Cornish-designed course has a first hole considered among the toughest found anywhere. Long-iron play will put you in the money. Greens fees are $37, and nonmembers can play between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and after 1:30 p.m. on weekends. For weekday play you must call in advance, and for weekends a Friday call is necessary. Carts are $28.
