Many
people forget that it’s as important to protect your eyes from the
sun as it is your skin. Polarized lenses by Kaenon have been worn by a
number of professional athletes, including winners of the 2003 America’s
Cup and the winner of the U.S. Women’s Open. I tried them on a recent
fishing trip.
What
makes the Kaenon sunglasses so special is the fact that the lenses come
in three different color tints (copper, gray, or yellow) and various light-transmission
levels (the strongest of which reportedly blocks 88 percent of visible
light), allowing you to customize the darkness of your lens. They’re
ideal for the marine setting where glare levels can change regularly.
I
always wear high-end, polarized lenses, so I passed them over to my mother,
who swears by $1.99 drugstore-bought sunglasses and asked for her opinion.
She liked them so much that she didn’t want to take them off (it
got a little dicey) and commented that she didn’t squint at all
while wearing them.
The
glasses retail for $160.
