In
all the years I’ve been boating, I’ve never owned a pair of
moccasin-style boat shoes comfortable enough to wear everyday. Thanks
to Dubarry of Ireland, which has been designing “high-performance
shoes to handle the elements in comfort since 1930,” I think I’ve
found a pair.
The
company’s latest addition to its Maldives line of women’s
boat shoes was developed with a female’s foot in mind, and it shows;
I didn’t break in my pair before wearing them for a weekend, yet
I felt I could’ve walked for miles. That’s because of a double-stitched,
wraparound sole that provides cushy support for feet and toes. More important,
when my shoes got wet, they dried within minutes, thanks to the water-resistant,
low-absorbing, and dry-fast technology of the Pittards leather, which
reportedly also helps them maintain their shape over time. Like most boat
shoes, they also feature a nonslip, nonmarking rubber outsole for enhanced
traction underway.
Dubarry
offers five ladies’ styles, ten men’s styles, and four unisex
boot styles. Call the company for pricing or a catalog.
