JRC’s
new radar system usefully deconstructs the traditional display head into
a separate processor box that can be mounted out of the way, a 5"x12"
keyboard that can go wherever your fingers wish, and an optional 10.4-inch
screen that can be set to landscape or portrait modes. Or the display
can be fed to any VGA monitor in your system, even split-screened with
other software using a third-party video processor. The JMA series offers
a full set of radar features and marks the beginning of JRC’s push
into black-box electronics. The starter 5104 model comes with a two-foot,
4-kW radome and costs $5,350 without display. Models with four- and six-foot
open arrays are available, as is an optional MARPA package said to benefit
from the algorithms used on big-ship radars.
