Is it impossible to wire a normal depthsounder’s transducer and power lines up to your tuna tower? Tacktick has introduced the innovative Micronet system of instruments, whose displays are solar-powered (with internal rechargeable batteries) and whose sensors talk to them via short-range radio waves. Besides depth, the system can include wind speed and direction, COG and SOG, boat speed and heading, and much more. Installations should be a snap, and planned easy-add-ons include MOB transmitters and handheld charting computers. Micronet gear should be shipping this summer; prices vary.
