Here’s a unique high-end marine keyboard, and it uses the Bluetooth wireless protocol mentioned in my column. Its tough composite construction is supposedly good for a million key clicks, and the unit is submersible to 60 feet. A fixed fingertip control and extra set of programmable function keys should help a skipper keep on computing in the liveliest conditions. Bluetooth should enable the keyboard to work reliably at up to 100 feet from most any computer, even a PDA, but it seems particularly well matched with the company’s built-for-boats-from-the-chip-up machines. It’s priced at about $700.
