Caterpillar recently announced plans to enter the joystick-controlled propulsion fray with azipod systems for applications below 1,000 hp, as well as Three60, a system that will employ shaft-and-strut drive trains in conjunction with bow and stern thrusters. All new systems will be supported by the company’s worldwide service network.
