Inverter Installation 2A
Story and photography by Capt. Vincent Daniello
DC power to a larger inverter/charger like our 3,000-watt model requires heavier wire, as well as a higher-amperage fuse and fuse holder (1). We’ve also installed a battery temperature monitor (2), since the charger is a multistage “smart” unit and factors in battery temperature.
Does an install demand a little time and talent? Yes, but considering how tight today’s relaxation is with household power, an inverter may be a powerful addition to your boat’s electrical system, whether you want just one AC outlet onboard or many.
