We tracked down the inside scoop on what boatbuilders are up to next.
A 40-meter superyacht known as the QuadraDeck is on the boards at Danish Yachts. She takes advantage of the strength and light weight of an all-carbon-fiber build to push the boat higher, resulting in the patented “Sky Terrace,” a top deck with foldout wings for additional space. “We ask a lot of questions,” says Cor D. Rover, the well-known Dutchman tasked with designing the yacht. “We ask people who love boats. But we also ask people who hate boats. We want to know why. Sometimes it’s the impracticality.” Rover’s research resulted in design features like placing the captain’s quarters on the skylounge deck, which leaves more room on lower decks for guest acommodations.
