However, if you don't have the room or just want the freedom that comes with producing your own water onboard, Spectra Watermakers' Newport 400 Aqua Flex System can produce 17 gallons of pure water per hour or 400 gallons per day. Because the 400 Aqua Flex is preplumbed, it can be installed in a variety of ways to accommodate your boat's space considerations. For example, the pump/valve module can be afixed to a bulkhead or shelf-mounted horizontally or vertically without affecting the unit's performance. In addition, Spectra says that its new, patented Clark high-pressure pump allows the unit to run quieter than previous models.

The 400 Aqua Flex comes with an LCD readout and the MPC-300 electronic controller lets you control functions remotely, reducing trips below decks to adjust settings, and it displays data such as prefilter condition, feed pressure, water-flow rate, water quality, and the volume of water in the tank. The 400 can also be programmed to start and stop at specific intervals, just like your coffee maker at home. Pricing was unavailable at presstime.
