The Speedblade tool, which can be used on wood, fiberglass, and aluminum, runs on a 12-volt battery and comes with two attachments. The wide, partially flexible blade vibrates at 70 times per second and is geared for removing barnacles and other hull-dwelling critters without scratching your boat's paint job or damaging the gelcoat. A half-round blade can be used to clean prop shafts and intakes, according to the company. Because the unit is watertight, Speedblade says that critter removal can be done underwater as well as during haul out. By keeping the hull clean year-round, you may even be able to reduce your yard service bill.

Speedblade has a suggested retail price of $499 and is available directly through the company.
