Both Yanmar diesel-powered units, the I.S.4 (3.2-kW) and I.S.6 (5.7-kW), were trimmed by two inches in length, width, and height to make them more compatible for boats with limited genset space. The I.S.4 now measures 261⁄4"Lx18"Wx22"H, while the I.S.6 measures 287⁄8"Lx201⁄2"Wx231⁄2H". Both units are lightweight: The lower-power genset weighs 211 lbs. and the larger one comes in at 286 lbs.
Reducing noise was also in the upgrade plan, and the company says it achieved that with the help of a new, standard, stainless steel and aluminum soundshield. Mase claims it managed to shave 3db-A off each unit as a result, offering a top sound level of 53 db-A (65 db-A is the level of normal conversation).
The I.S.4 and I.S.6 retail for $4,356 and $4,644 respectively and come with a two-year warranty. They're available through Mase dealers throughout the United States. To locate one in your area, visit Mase North America's Web site or call the number below.
