The sun and its glare off the water can have a damaging effect on your eyes. That's why for boaters, a pair of quality polarized sunglasses is as much standard equipment onboard as a PFD and extra lines.

Schnauzer Solar Optics may possess the name of a cuddly little dog, but its glasses are said to have more of a pit bull attitude when it comes to fighting glare. The key to keeping your peepers protected is Schnauzer's XPF polarized lenses. They have a base gray tint working in combination with a green/amber tint that enhances image contrast. This marriage of colors should ward off bright sunlight and absorb up to 99 percent of glare and 100 percent of UVA, UVB, and UVC rays, says Schnauzer.

The lenses are housed in a polycarbonate frame that makes the sunglasses lightweight, while silicon nose and temple pads keep them from slipping. Eight separate frame style are available, including the Streetdog frame pictured. The glasses are available though Schnauzer Solar Optics dealers or factory direct. Pricing was unavailable at presstime.
