I don't like my helm wheel to be completely horizontal or vertical; I think a bit of an up angle offers the best fit from an ergonomic standpoint. If you want your boat's wheel to suit your preferences, Teleflex is offering you an option.

The company's TFXtreme ball-bearing helm offers five wheel-position settings. Twenty-two stainless steel ball bearings provide flexibility in the wheel and prove durable over the long haul as well. To ensure the unit's ruggedness, Teleflex subjected it to a 1,000-hour salt-spray test and a back-and-forth test, where the wheel was maneuvered continuously one million times throughout the wheel's five positions.

The TFXtreme helm is available with a tapered or spline shaft to suit your boat's design and is said to be compatible with many mechanical steering systems, some of which include NFB Safe-T II, NFB 4.2 Rotary, NFB Pro Rack, HPS Steering, and SafeT QC. The TFXtreme ball-bearing helm is available through Teleflex Morse dealers. Pricing was unavailable at presstime.
