Nautical Touch By Elizabeth Ginns Britten — May 2004 |
||||||||||||||||
Add a nautical-inspired touch to your home with these wall-mounted window-box planters and mailboxes designed by Carol Parrott International. Parrott says she wanted to add a nautical atmosphere to her gardening shed, but couldn’t find a window-box planter with any nautical style, so she designed her own. The half-hull and half-transom designs are made of hand-laid gelcoated fiberglass so they won’t rust or rot, making them practical for outdoor use. The back is flat, so it can lay flush against a wall or fence. The planter (available in a 15-inch or 36-inch size) comes with built-in drainage holes; the mailbox (available in a 15-inch size) features a drainage track to keep mail dry in wet weather. Both the planter and mailbox are available in a range of trim colors, and customers can personalize them with their boat’s name and homeport, family name, house number, etc. Either the planter or mailbox would make a great gift for any boating enthusiast. Prices range from $149 to $269. Nautical Planters Phone: (954) 462-2390. www.nauticalplanters.com. Is there something you would like to know more about or see PMY put to the test?
