While docked, boats can leak A.C. into the surrounding water, which can lead to equipment failure, corrosion, an electrical fire, or even electrocution. ESC Products has a way to warn you of these dangerous, costly, and potentially fatal situations in the form of the DockTester, an electrical-integrity tester that detects stray current and measures voltage on vessels and in the surrounding water.

The portable in-line tester goes between a boat’s shore power cord and the dockside A.C. receptacle. Voltage measurements are shown on an easy-to-read, water-resistant digital display. The tester is housed in a durable, yellow case.

There are four DockTester models available for shore-power ratings from 15 to 50 amps and either 120 or 240 volts, and a wide range of cable lengths are also available. Prices range from $1,295 to $1,828. DockTester comes with a one-year limited warranty, and it’s available from the company.
