The Heat is On By Elizabeth Ginns Britten — April 2004 |

Many cars these days feature seat warmers to keep your buns toasty during the cold weather. Now, thanks to Stidd Systems, the company famous for top-of-the-line helm and passenger seats, boat owners can have heated helm seats, too. The power-heating option dubbed Heat Wave is available in some of Stidd’s more popular seats, including the Series 500N Slimline Admiral and Series 500 Admiral. Electrical components are concealed under the seat pan, and there are two temperature settings, a high one of 105ºF and a low one of 98ºF, allowing you to choose which level your tush finds most comfortable. The Heat Wave uses 12-volt D.C. heating elements and is protected by a 10-amp circuit breaker. A complete Heat Wave power-heating option installed in any new Stidd seat retails for $1,195.
