Room For Everything
The ultimate luxury aboard any boat is space. Space to sit in comfort, space to stretch out in bed, space to move around without bumping into another crewmember. It doesn’t matter how great a boat is, she can always be improved with the addition of a bit more space.
And then there is stowage. Useful, accessible stowage volume isn’t even a luxury—without enough of that, you haven’t really got a boat at all, you’ve got a sort of floating dumpster. With Azimut’s long-range cruising aspirations for the Magellano 53, you’d expect stowage to be pretty near the top of the designer’s priorities, and so it has proved. Not only does the 53 have a purpose-built locker off the lower lobby for a washing machine, and a useful linen cupboard just outside the door of the master cabin, there is also an entire cabin-sized “utility room” on the starboard side, fitted out with priceless lockers and shelving. To encounter such a cavern of extra volume in a 50-footer isn’t just a surprise, it’s a game-changer.
Oh, and the only thing that that top shelf needs to make it into a useful seventh berth is a mattress.
