It’s Monaco Time!

Big yachts are nothing unusual at Monaco.

Come September 23rd, the docks of Monaco’s Port Hercules will be awash with visitors—more than 30,000 of them—all of whom will have traveled to this glamorous principality for a singular event: the 19th annual Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). In spite of the current economic downturn, this year’s four-day-long event is completely booked and promises to attract the best and brightest of the megayacht industry, including builders, brokers, and of course, buyers. Indeed, the 2009 show will feature some 500 companies, 30 to 40 brand-new builds, and 100 megayachts ranging in size from 82 to 295 feet LOA. And with amenities that run from a champagne bar to a helicopter shuttle service, the show is well-equipped to cater to guests’ every need. Perhaps best of all, organizers have placed a premium on social responsibility, which is why they’ve not only worked to ensure the show receives a carbon neutral label from The Carbon Neutral Company, but why they’re also working with said organization on several renewable-energy projects. Furthermore, the MYS is donating half of all proceeds from general-admission sales to the Association Monegasque contre les Myopathies, which researches children’s muscular dystrophy.
