According the New York Post, noted yachtsman and owner of the 414-foot megayacht Octopus, Paul Allen, recently sold his $28 million Malibu beachfront mansion to CBS president and CEO Les Moonves because he “hated the sound of the ocean.”

Yes you read that correctly.

Into the Maelstrom with a Viking

OK, maybe maelstrom is too strong a word, but when I tested the Viking 42 ST today off of Riviera Beach, it just wasn’t really all that pleasant, weather-wise. The rain was slamming down, the wind was conjuring up whitecaps, and confused four footers made the Atlantic an interesting place to test a boat that easily surpasses 30 knots.

It’s Christmas Time in the City

MarineMax and Sea Ray put together an elegant event in Manhattan to show appreciation for their customers and to highlight one new launch in particular.

I live right across the Hudson River from Manhattan in Hoboken, New Jersey. So when I saw MarineMax marketing maven Josie Tucci at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, she invited me to a party her company was throwing in conjunction with Sea Ray at Chelsea Piers. It was pretty much a no-brainer that I was going to go. It’s a five-minute ferry ride after all.
